VISUAL,
AUDITORY or KINAESTHETIC? |
|
| WHY
IT IS USEFULL TO UNDERSTAND THE REPRESENTATIONAL
SYSTEM OF SOMEONE |
|
|
In NLP 3, we say it is very important to understand
the representational system of someone. By
interpreting the representational tendency of our
converser, we will be able to calibrate our
communication in relation to his/her own subjective
reality, creating in this way a communicative
interaction based on the "unconscious
rapport" (the representational preferences push
us unconsciously to communicate verbally through
linguistic structures characterized by verbal
predicates belonging to that representational
system). This does not mean that if a person is a
Visual he/she does not also process in the Auditory
and Kinaesthetic mode but, frequently he/she will
process through images and if I want to get onto the
same wavelength with him/her I'll have to employ all
that is related to the world of image. In fact we
use a channel in a desirable manner, another less
frequently and we rarely use the third. Accordingly
if I am faced with a kinaesthetic who processes
through feelings, taste and smells and I'd like to
describe to him/her a day at the seaside, it is
useless to talk about the "brightness" of
the sun, about " the transparency of the
water" and the "colour of the sand".
Instead I should talk to him/her about "the
feeling of the water on the skin", about "
the sea breeze caressing my face" and about
" the burning of the sand under my feet". |
